THIS FRIDAY, MAY 30th!!!!!

A rare northern New Jersey gig @ Dexter’s in Riverdale, NJ (92 Route 23 North)!!! KJ will hit the stage at roughly 9:15pm. We’ll be playing a selection of songs off of our new album, ARE WE THERE YET?, as well as a selection of your favorite covers.

Samples here…just giving you all the “scoop” on the new (and yes, improved) Kangaroo Jones. I’ve been playing with these guys for a few years now, and I can honestly say that the band has never sounded better. As Riback said before, the new members have added a dimension to the band that gives our live show more excitement and depth. I like to call it “spice”…and pretty much everything about our band now has more of that - from our individual abilities as musicians to the setlist choices. I think you’ll really enjoy what we’ve put together for you at the gig on Friday in Pearl River.

Rehearsals have been great, Brian Kornfeld and Joe D. have brought such a strong groove to the KJ sound and it’s really been great to benefit from Joe being a music teacher. Although I don’t understand any of these terms he keeps shooting out in rehearsal, they seem to be helping so it’s awesome!

I was honestly worried at first about giving up playing bass, not because I was concerned about who would be playing (Kornfeld said Joe was great and that was all I needed to hear)…I was worried whether or not I would miss it. But I feel almost free now, like I have restricted my singing over the years always having to compensate for playing at the same time. Ask any musician - imagine patting your head, rubbing your belly, while hula hooping and reciting the Star Spangled Banner backwards, and in Chinese…that just barely describes how hard that is to do…play bass and sing at the same time. I can focus more on phrasing I have always wanted to try and the guys have told me, so far, so good. I would love your comments so please feel free to sign up and post your comments after Friday’s show!

This page is gonna be interactive. Once I figure out wordpress (yup, I’m still 1.0), we start reviewing posts, making comments and uploading pictures and music from gigs.
